Plamu

About This Work:

This work is a texture study of a salmon’s scales viewed close up, and aims to replicate the colours and iridescent shine of their skin. Each bead is stitched down one at a time to highlight the beauty of something we only notice if we take time to look more closely.

Plamu means salmon in Mi'kmaq.

Dimensions and Materials:

This work is made with a mix of vintage, antique and contemporary glass seed beads. The work itself measures 4x6, and the frame measures 16.5 x 13.5 inches.
