Mel spoke about what it means to be an artist, what it means to be a Mi’kmaq artist, how their art can be experienced, how they are combining a traditional methods with modern technologies, their artistic process, and how to challenge ourselves to make change with our art.

Mel’s words were encouraging and inviting, and they made so many of my students excited to make art that is authentic to them.
