About This Work:

In the foreground of this work dances a beaded representation of one of our historic petroglyphs carved into the shore of Kejimkujik Lake. This spot was a way point that drew travellers to the shore to make their mark. This petroglyph is surrounded by double curves carved into the face of the rocky shore, represented in the tattooed background.

This work was created in collaboration with my sister, Chantal Kingsbury (Beaulieu) aka @little.bird.tattoos. Chantal tattooed the double curve motifs onto leather to make up the background of this work and I beaded the lodge on top. 

Dimensions and Materials:

This work is made with tattooed leather, a mix of vintage, antique and contemporary glass seed beads, and 24k gold beads. The work itself measures 5x7, and the frame measures 16.5 x 14.5 inches.
